The Department of English at United International University was launched on the 12th of December, 2023, and the English Language Institute (ELI) was merged with the Department of English on the mentioned date. The B.A. in English programme at UIU is designed to provide a broad spectrum of English studies, i.e. literary genres, critical theories, applied linguistics and theories of ELT, niche in research orientation, and hands-on teaching experience. The programme will mould students to pursue interdisciplinary courses that are expected to broaden their outlook and develop their liberal and humane values.

The Department of English offers two major streams; one concentration is on Applied Linguistics and ELT, and the other one is on Literature. Along with core English Courses, the Department of English also offers two courses, namely English I and English II, and both of the courses are compulsory for the new entrants of the School of Business and Economics and School of Science and Engineering and other departments.
